A "Blend of rums aged up to 5 years in ex-bourbon barrels", Tanduay Silver rum is distilled in the Philipines from fermented locally grown and processed sugarcane molasses.
Prior to bottling, the rum is lightly charcoal filtered to leave it with a light straw appearance.

Clear, pale straw golden yellow.
Fairly pungent. Grassy vanilla oak and toasted coconut flesh with banana skin, and candied ginger.
Light to medium-bodied. Toasted oak tannins and black pepper spice lead with coconut, vanilla, lime chews and a faint smoky note.
Long, dry toasty oak finish with fruity vanilla and lime chews.
Expressive rather than subdued with attractive fruity, vanilla and coconut notes subdued by dry oak tannins. Very much a cocktail rum. A rum to compete with the likes of Havana Club 3.

As the Double Rum name suggests, this is a blend of two rums, one aged for 5 years and the other 16 years. After blending these are married in an ex-bourbon
